  4. Skywatcher Star Discovery P150i Wifi Go-To Telescope

Skywatcher Star Discovery P150i Wifi Go-To Telescope

PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE TAKING ORDERS FOR SUPPLY IN AROUND 3-4 WEEKS TIME. Building on the success of the Skywatcher Star Discovery 150P Goto telescope, this new version eschews a handset for a wifi link dongle to control the whole system via an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet. Simply download Skywatcher’s Synscan App, log your de ice into the wifi network set up by the telescope’s plug in dongle and wirelessly control the mount. The P150i is a Newtonian reflector, with a 150mm, or 6-inch diameter primary mirror - which is a good quality parabolic design. The emphasis on the design of this telescope is simplicity and as such, the mirrors are collimated solely via adjustment of the secondary mirror assembly, rather then the primary as well. While this may seem to some to be a negative, in our experience, in practise, the arrangement works well. Both the primary mirror’s cell and the secondary super and mount are well designed and machined, which allows for very reasonable collimation to be reached with the minimum of fuss. The telescope comes with two eyepieces: 10mm and 25mm Modified Achromats, which while being a simple design (which can be easily and inexpensively upgraded), certainly give very reasonable views right out of the box (at 75x and 30x respectively). The telescope can definitely provide more magnification than this for Lunar and Planetary observations, so an additional eyepiece in the 7.5mm-9mm range, when coupled with a Barlow lens, would give magnifications ranging from 167x-200x - a sensible upper limit for high power work with an instrument of this size. 6. Bresser Messier NT750-S Twilight I Telescope and Mount

Bresser Messier NT150-S Twilight I Telescope and Mount

The Bresser Messier NT150-S Twilight I Telescope and Mount combines the elegance of the Bresser Messier NT150-S 6-inch Newtonian with the simplicity and stability of the Bresser Twilight I mount, with variable sweep head and stainless steel tripod. If you're looking at a Dobsonian, this is in many ways the easier to use option - giving you an adjustable height tripod with greater viewing reach and clearance (especially when looking down towards the horizon) and the benefit of being able to follow objects with fine adjustment, accurately on a mount you can use from anywhere (unlike Dobsonians, which you have to use from a level surface). If you don't want the added complexity of Goto computerised control, the Bresser Messier NT750-S Twilight I Telescope and Mount gives you tried and tested stability and ease of use. The NT150 is a very capable instrument: supplied with good quality 25mm Plossl design eyepiece and 6x30 finderscope, the excellent rack and pinion driven Hexafoc focuser, with the ability to get to a prime focus position for astrophotographic use without modification or upgrade Learn More
