If you've ever wanted to directly observe the Sun but didn't want to spend the the money required to buy a dedicated solar observing telescope then this might be the answer.

This aluminium adapter plate allows you to attach a Coronado SolarMax 40 hydrogen-alpha energy rejection filter to the front of a 10" Schmidt–Cassegrain telescope (SCT). (In addition to a Coronado SM40 filter you would also need a blocking filter to allow you to use your 10" telescope as a solar instrument)

Although this heavily engineered plate is designed to fit a Coronado SM40, it would be a relatively simple task to make a white-light filter from astro-solar film and use it to observe sun spots or observe planetary transits and eclipses. The plate has a maximum internal diameter of 300mm the included nylon threaded thumb screws allow a tight fit to any telescope with an external diameter of 293mm to 300mm.

Please note, this plate is designed to be used with a 10" SCT, SM40 & Coronado blocking filter. We cannot guaranteed that you could achieve focus using an SM40, Coronado blocking filter and another telescope system even though it could be used as an off-axis adapter for a white light filter.
