Details

The colour of blue really supports observations of the high clouds on Mars. The dark red structures will be shown even darker, so this is also the perfect filter for watching the big red storms and barges on the gas planet Jupiter. The rings of Saturn will be accentuated, the structures of the Venusian atmosphere will stand out.

This filter is reasonably deep, so works well in telescopes of 10“ aperture, or above.

What is a colour filter for and do we really need it?

Colour Filters darken the light that reaches the eye, or the sensor of the camera, slightly. This eliminates stronger wavelengths, with the result that your target experiences a boost in contrast at certain wavelengths of light which are allowed through - which automatically reveals greater detail.
